ILOILO City – Police units under the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested over 6,000 wanted persons across Western Visayas in 11 months of operation.

From January to November, 5,862 operations were conducted and these resulted in the arrest of 6,239 wanted persons, including 5,229 with lesser offenses and 1,010 who belonged to the top 10 most wanted persons, PRO-6 data showed.

Negros Occidental had the most number of arrested fugitives at 2,516. It was followed by Bacolod City with 926 and Iloilo province with 646.

On the other hand, 33 wanted persons voluntarily surrendered to the police, and one died fighting the authorities in Negros Occidental.

These accomplishments were the results of the “Birada Semana” program, wherein all police chiefs were directed to focus on persons with pending arrest warrants, according to PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco.

“May mga weeks na nag-focus ang ating pulis sa mga tao na may warrant. That’s why marami tayong huli. Kasi kapag nahuli natin ang mga wanted, that’s a big contribution sa ating peace and order, and that’s our goal,” Francisco said.

He stated that they are concentrating their efforts on the top 10 most wanted individuals.

“I always reminded my men not to stop monitoring the whereabouts (of those) who have arrest warrants at hulihin agad para hindi na makagawa ng krimen,” Francisco added./PN
