‘Salvage’ victim found in Aklan

ILOILO City – A 41-year-old man with multiple stab wounds was found dead in Barangay Albasan, Numancia, Aklan around 7 a.m. yesterday.

Jack Mererague was a resident of Barangay Guibongan, Miag-ao, Iloilo, according to Police Corporal Arjorine Mendoza, investigator of the Numancia police station.

Wrapped in a bed sheet, he was found by a youngster near the river bank.

“May mga pilas siya sa lawas tuga sang icepick kag ginlampusan sa ulo. Pero ipa-autopsy pa naton para mabal-an ta kun diin pa gid iya pilas,” Mendoza said.

Mererague’s identity was confirmed through his identification cards.

“Basi sa iban siya nga place ginpatay kag ginhaboy sa kilid sang sapa kay indi man pwede dira nila ginpatay tapos dira man ginputos sang bedsheet,” said Mendoza.

According to the victim’s mother, her son left their house two years ago to look for work.

“I had talked to the victim’s mother and she identified the victim as her son who left their house two years ago. We are investigating kun ngaa nakalab-ot diri siya sa Aklan,” Mendoza said./PN
