GUIMARAS – To promote and further boost the local bangus industry, the Guimaras provincial government is set to celebrate its first ever Bangus Fair on Dec. 16 at the capitol grounds in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan town.
Milk fish, or bangus, produced by local fish farmers will be sold at the capitol grounds from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The one-day activity features fresh bangus selling; demonstration on bangus deboning; selling of bangus processed products and cuisine, relleno and marinated bangus; and a bangus deboning competition.
It is also a way to pay tribute to local fish farmers, increase their income, and strengthen the milkfish aquaculture industry in the province.
The Bangus Fair is one of the highlights of “Paskwa sa Isla”, the Guimaras’ way of celebrating the Christmas season.
“Paskwa sa Isla” organized by the provincial government of Guimaras aims to support the recovery of the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, and fisherfolks by generating tourism receipts and market opportunities.
It also features trade fair, food festival, Light a Tree contest, Zumba dance contest, video making contest, mango selling, children’s Christmas costume party, Governor Joaquin Carlos Rahman A. Nava 120KM Tour de Guimaras Cycling Challenge, and live bands/busking.
Nava encourages Guimarasnons to participate in the first ever Bangus Fair to show their support for the province’s milk fish industry. (With a report from Guimaras provincial government)/PN
