ILOILO – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Iloilo is on heightened alert for the influx of passengers in seaports.

It will be particularly monitoring the Lapuz and Parola wharves in Iloilo City and the ports of Dumangas, Carles and Estancia as part of their “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2022” until Jan. 7, 2023.

“May ara mga helpdesks sa ports. If may inquiries ang mga pasahero i-accommodate,” said Commander Paterno Belarmino Jr. of PCG-Iloilo in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas Iloilo on Monday, Dec. 12.

Forces from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) in Region 6 and Philippine National Police (PNP) will augment the PCG-Iloilo personnel.

Also, rescue boats and equipment are on standby in case of emergencies.

Belarmino also reminded operators to ensure the seaworthiness of their watercraft to avoid putting people’s lives at risk./PN
