ILOILO – A 23-year-old woman died, her fellow backrider was injured and the boyfriend of the fatality was in critical condition after the motorcycle they were riding crashed in Barangay Sambag, Zarraga town around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19.
The fatality was identified as Gladys Ann Punzalan, a resident of Barangay San Juan, Pototan town.
Zarraga police said the motorcycle driver was Jeremy Puertollano, 23, and another backrider was Vivian Mae Layog, 23, both residents of Barangay Jalaud Sur, Zarraga.
The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital, but Punzalan was declared “dead on arrival”.
According to Police Lieutenant Raphy Señeres, chief of the Zarraga police station, it was raining heavily at the time of the incident.
“Wala man ini kontra. Natumba lang gid ang motor nila. Todo ang ulan sang natabu ang insidente, daw nakadanlog siguro ang ila nga motor rason nga naka-angkon ini sila sang major injuries sa diin napatay gid diri si Punzalan,” Señeres said./PN
