BACOLOD City – The murder of Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) general manager, Atty. Danny Pondevilla could be work-related, according to the Bacolod City Police Office’s Police Station 2.

But they are exploring other angles, too, such as personal issues, said Police Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, Police Station 2 commander.

Pondevilla was shot dead inside his parked vehicle along 16th Lacson Street in the city’s Barangay 7 past 12 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Pastrana said they have two persons of interest so far and both have been subjected to paraffin test.

Results were yet to be released as of this writing

Pastrana declined to name the two individuals. He also said they were not detained.

Post mortem examination of Pondevilla’s remains showed the bullet entered at the back of his head and exited through his face.

Fondly addressed as “GM Dan”, Pondevilla also previously served as general manager of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Negros Chapter, Noneco and Ceneco condemned Pondevilla’s murder.

“We are saddened by the news. We condemn in the strongest possible way the killing of our brother lawyer. Pondevilla’s family and friends.

“An assault on any member of the legal profession is an assault on the entire community. We will continue to be vigilant. We will continue to pursue our goal to let the rule of law prevail,” the IBP-Negros Chapter added.
