AKLAN – A 22-year-old drug suspect was arrested in a Christmas antidrug operation in Kalibo, Aklan.
Raymar Ortega was a resident of Barangay Andagao, Kalibo town. A police poseur buyer bought from him for P10,000 a medium-sized transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu.
The operation was carried out around 9:15 p.m. along Diversion Road, Barangay Tigayon by operatives of the Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and the Kalibo Municipal Police Station.
Ortega was placed under a month of surveillance prior to the drug bust, police said.
Officers also recovered a black coin purse containing P80 in cash, an improvised lighter, and the suspect’s mobile phone.
Aklan PDEU chief Lieutenant Colonel Frenzy Andrade said the suspect’s supply came from outside the province.
“Malaki ang nakuha natin sa suspek, mga isang gramo. May dati siyang record na robbery ayon sa suspek,” Andrade added.
Ortega will be charged with violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
