BACOLOD City – The commander of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) has ordered an investigation into the claims made by Negros Oriental’s 3rd District congressman Arnulfo Teves Jr. that three members of the Army’s elite Scout Rangers were hired to kidnap or kill him or his family members.
In a video posted by Teves on his social media page on Christmas Day, Teves claimed the three soldiers recently arrived in Negros Oriental and were paid an initial amount of P250,000 each.
Teves claimed that one of the three will be rewarded with P40 million if they are able to successfully kidnap or kill him or his family members.
He also claimed that 50 long-powered firearms arrived in Bacolod City, which would be used for the hit on the Teves family.
In response, 3ID commander Major General Benedict Arevalo, who is also the concurrent acting chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the Visayas, said they will conduct an investigation.
Meanwhile, Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) spokesperson Police Major Anthony Jabar said Teves has yet to formally file a complaint./PN
