BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city will no longer accept voter registrants for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in their office at the BAYS Center on San Juan Street.

City Comelec officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said they are instead having satellite registrations to accommodate more applicants because their office has a limited space.

Since barangay and SK elections registration resumed on Dec. 12, 2022, more than 3,000 people have applied for registration. The registration will last until Jan. 31, 2023.

The schedule for voters’ registration is as follows:

* Ayala Malls Capitol Central – Jan. 3 to  5

* Bacangay Granada gymnasium – Jan. 6

* Barangay Alangilan gymnasium – Jan. 7

* Gaisano City Mall – Jan. 8 to 12

* Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (Barangay Singcang-Airport) – Jan. 11

* Barangay Handumanan gymnasium – Jan. 13

* Barangay Vista Alegre gymnasium – Jan. 14

* SM City – Jan. 16 to 19

* Barangay Sum-ag gymnasium – Jan. 20

* Barangay Cabug gymnasium – Jan. 21

* Robinson’s Place Bacolod – Jan. 25 to 28 and Jan. 30 to 31.

Trinio-Caña encouraged eligible residents to register now rather than wait for the last day of registration.

Meanwhile, only a few people went to register at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central yesterday.

The Comelec officer said it may be due to the bad weather./PN
