Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 spokesperson, Atty. Bomrad Abonado, said the operation was carried out around 1:45 a.m. by joint forces of PDEA, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and Jaro police station.

A poseur buyer bought one big sachet of suspected shabu for P22,000.

Authorities recovered 40 more sachets with a street value of P1.3 million.

“They were under surveillance for more than a week. We received information that a house served as a dropping point of shabu and at the same time a drug den,” Abonado said.

Citing intelligence reports, PDEA and the police believed the recovered shabu came from the National Capital Region and entered Iloilo through seaports.

PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, said they continue to monitor drug peddlers, including newly identified ones.

Hindi natin hahayaan na magpatuloy sila sa pag-operate,” Francisco said.

The nine drug-pushing suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
