ILOILO City – Forty-seven police personnel of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were subjected to unannounced random drug testing on Sunday, Jan. 8.

This was the first drug test conducted this year in the ICPO as part of its continuous  internal cleansing.

Of the 47 cops, five were from the ICPO headquarters, 29 from the mobile patrol team, three from the ICPO traffic office, four from the La Paz police station, three from the Jaro police station, two from the Mandurriao police station, and one from the Arevalo police station.

Results will be known later this week.

Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, said the drug test was conducted by the City Forensic Unit.

Through random, unannounced tests, Sangrines said, the ICPO hopes to keep its ranks drug-free.

“Those who fail the test will face administrative charges. But I believe all are negative kay daw wala naman may nagagamit siguro. Bal-an nila ang consequences kag anytime may surprise drug test,” added the ICPO spokesperson.

The last drug test at the ICPO was held on Sept. 21, 2022; 133 cops all tested negative for drug use./PN
