BACOLOD City – Eight persons are facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, or the gambling law, in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
La Carlota City police said among the eight suspects who were all residents of the city, four were apprehended and taken to the local police station for custody while the rest remained at large.
Apprehended were April Joy Angeles, Mary Grace Modesto, Faith Joy Pacamo, and Anifeb Decendario.
A certain Ging-ging Opada, alias “Mely”; alias “Tigas Gemina”; and alias “Joanne” escaped during the operation, police said.
Officers of the La Carlota City police station were conducting an operation against all forms of illegal gambling when they spotted the suspects playing tong-its and bet game around 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12.
