ILOILO – A former employee of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) – Antique District Office was granted temporary liberty after posting bail amounting to P1,296,000.

Alfredo Jose De Leon of Pavia, Iloilo was charged with allegedly falsifying driver’s licenses and issuing the same for a fee.

De Leon was charged with 12 counts for falsification of public documents and another 12 counts of violation of Section 4(e) in relation to Sections 21(h) and 22(b) of Republic Act (RA) 11032, or the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.”

For his falsification charges, recommended bail totaled P864,000 while P432,000 was set for the RA 11032 violation charges.

De Leon surrendered to the Pavia Municipal Police Station (MPS) on Sunday, Jan. 15. He was able to secure temporary liberty on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

According to LTO-6 assistant regional director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II, De Leon was an employee of LTO-6 for almost 15 years already.

“Sang una, isa ni siya sa gin absorb sang LTO kay una ara na siya sa Department of Transportation and Communications. Didto siya na belong sa Telegram Office, mga ga issue telegrama. So nag nonfunctional ang ila opisina, gin absorb ni sila sa LTO,” said Geduspan.

When the LTO-Antique Chief changed in Dec. 2021, the alleged wrongdoings were discovered.

“We’re not surprised nga nakapyansa na siya kay first of all bailable man ang case niya and they belong to a wealthy family. Pero indi na ni siya kabalik sa service kay gin-separate na ni siya at the time nga gina-investigate pa lang ang case,” Geduspan added./PN
