ILOILO City – It’s time to showcase again the country’s grandest festival from the streets of this city to the world.
For the past two years, Dinagyang Festival was celebrated virtually because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“After two years of celebrating Dinagyang in digital platforms, we are finally back on the streets and the celebration has become even bigger, bolder, brighter,” said Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
The enthusiasm and excitement of the Ilonggos to celebrate face-to-face Dinagyang is evident with their participation in and support to various Dinagyang activities from the Pamukaw last December 2022 to the opening salvo, Miss Iloilo 2023 grand coronation, Iloilo Food Festival, Sto. Niño fluvial procession and solemn foot procession, Grand Sadsad, Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan, Sponsors’ Mardi Gras, Dinagyang Ilomination , and Dagyang sa Barangay tribes competition, among others.
The city mayor, with all confidence, believes that this year’s celebration is the biggest, loudest, grandest, and most colorful ever.
Dinagyang has become an opportunity for the Ilonggos to showcase their oneness; from small to big businesses to ordinary residents, everyone is cooperating, said Treñas.
“Padayun lang kita nga magbinuligay, padayun ang pag-uswag sang aton syudad,” the city mayor added.
Treñas also thanked the trustees and officers of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) and the sponsors led by SM City Iloilo and Megaworld for their hard work and strong support.
The Iloilo Dinagyang Festival is presented by IFFI and co-presented by the Iloilo City government.
Anchored on the theme, “Iloilo Dinagyang 2023: Pasalamat kay Señor Sto. Niño”, this year’s edition of the festival highlights the gratefulness of the Ilonggos to the Child Jesus for his protection and guidance especially during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
