54-year-old stabbed in Anilao wake

ILOILO – A man was stabbed in Barangay Cag-an, Anilao, Iloilo, at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Roy Aberde Apura, a resident of Barangay Dangula-an in Anilao, was taken to the Barotac Nuevo District Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival”.

Prior to the stabbing, Apura was playing cards in a wake with the suspect, Francisco Botija Jr., 30, and a resident of Barangay Pamuringao, Cabatuan.

Police Staff Sergeant Jonar Ortiz of the Anilao police said the two were arguing.

Witnesses saw Botija suddenly grab the victim and stab him with a knife four times.

The suspect was still at large as of this writing./PN
