Ray Parks, Nagoya stay hot in Japan B.League

MANILA – Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Nagoya Diamond Dolphins continued their winning streak in the 2022-2023 Japan B.League Division 1 via a 104-96 beating of Shinshu Brave Warriors on Saturday night at the Dolphins Arena.

Parks, a former member of TNT Tropang Giga in the PBA, tallied 20 points, including two three-point connections, to go with 13 rebounds and three assists as the Diamond Dolphins improved to 24-8 record.

Takumi Saito led the way offensively for the Diamond Dolphins with 34 points. Scott Estherton chipped in double-double 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Yutaro Suda ended with 16 points.

Josh Hawkinson had a near triple-double numbers of 32 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, Reio Maeda added 19 markers, including four triples, while Anthony McHenry had double-double 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Brave Warriors.

Filipino-Japanese center Matthew Aquino, meanwhile, did not attempt a shot to finish without a point to go with one rebound for Shinshu, which slumped to 16-16 following the loss.

Matthew Wright and Kyoto Hannaryz, on the other hand, returned to their winning ways following an 80-76 escape over Yokohama B-Corsairs at the Yokohama International Pool.

The former Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters gunner finished with 15 points but only converted one of his six three-point attempts to go with three rebounds and one assist as Hannaryz moved up to 12-20.

Cheick Diallo led the way for the Hannaryz with 17 points. Jarrod Uthoff added double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Yoshiaki Kubota contributed 15 markers and seven assists.

Yuki Kawamura, meanwhile, top-scored for the losing B-Corsairs with double-double 19 points and 12 rebounds, Charles Jackson contributed 17 markers, while Kai King ended with 13 points.

Meanwhile, Ilonggos Kiefer Ravena and Thirdy Ravena suffered separate defeats as Shiga Lakes bowed to Sendai 89ers, 74-68, and San-En NeoPhoenix faltered to Shimane Susanoo Magic, 71-64./PN
