ILOILO City – Five police officers of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) are under monitoring for alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, said the five were a Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) and four Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs).
“Natanggap natin na information na kaibigan nila drug pushers…parang association to a drug peddler,” said Francisco.
The region’s top cop admitted that proving this may be hard.
But if evidence warrants and there are witnesses, criminal and administrative charges will be filed, he stressed.
“Mahirap kasi mag-file ng kaso na walang evidence at association lang ang relasyon. Pero nakalista na pangalan nila. Hindi natin hinahayaan ang ganitong illegal na gawain. Ayaw natin na gagawa sila ng hindi maganda,” Francisco said.
On the other hand, the PRO-6 director said only one drug group is being monitored in the region.
“Wala na tayong malakas na drug group dito sa region. May isa tayong minamanmanan pero ‘di masyadong organized. Non-stop ang ating operation against high-value drug personalities,” he added./PN
