ILOILO City – Six police station chiefs in this city were relieved from their posts effective Wednesday, Feb. 2.
Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), however, clarified that this was not due to the illegal drug problem.
The police chiefs already completed their two-year tour of duty in their assigned areas, he explained.
They have to step down for a higher position and give the newly-promoted captains the chance to head the stations, added Coronica.
“Indi illegal drug-related. Gusto naton nga matagaan man ang iban sang chance kag as I’ve said ma-two years na ‘ni sila. Hatagan na sila maximum of three months of monitoring sa ila position kag kung indi sila makapasar sa aton expectation there is a possibility nga they might be replaced,” added Coronica.
Here are the former city police station chiefs and their new assignments:
* Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines – from Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1) to full-time spokesperson of ICPO;
* Police Major Jose Val Ladublan – from La Paz police station to City Intelligence Unit (CIU) as deputy;
* Police Major Eduardo Siacon – from Jaro police station to Iloilo City Mobile Force Company as deputy;
* Police Major Marlyn Roquero – from Molo police station to OIC of Women and Children’s Protection Desk;
* Police Captain Benjie Dicen – from Mandurriao police station to Molo police station as OIC; and
* Police Major Chen Tañagras – from Arevalo police station to City Investigation and Detective Management Unit as deputy
The following are the new police station OICs:
* Police Captain Mavin Laraño – ICPS1
* Police Captain Johnna Aguil – La Paz police station
* Police Captain Lester Oliveros – Jaro police station,
* Police Lieutenant Colonel Albert Sy – Mandurriao police station
* Police Captain Resty Labasteda – Arevalo police station
The relief order of the police station chiefs came six days after the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) sacked the whole personnel of the Mandurriao district police and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) following the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit’s (RDEU) successful operation against a drug den in Barangay Bakhaw on Jan. 25 where 32 suspects were arrested and P918,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated.
“Nakakuha ang RDEU ng droga at may nahuli. Bakit hindi nila nakuha ‘to,” said Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, police regional director. “I am not satisfied with their performance, including the commanders.”/PN
