BACOLOD City – Three individuals, including a minor, were found dead with gunshot and hack wounds in Sitio Buyong, Barangay Cabia-an, Candoni, Negros Occidental on Saturday morning, Feb. 4.
The victims were Edmund Castro, 45, and his 10-year-old son Gerald and Analie Emaray, 44, all residents of the town’s Barangay Haba.
Police investigation revealed that Castro succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds to his body while Emaray sustained a gunshot wound to her face. Gerald, meanwhile, has hack wounds on his head and neck.
Police Major Ruel Culanag of the Candoni police station said residents heard gunshots at around 10:30 a.m.
“The motive is a land dispute, and we are yet to identify the assailants, but we have persons of interest,” Culanag said.
He added that the target was Castro.
“Pero naulamid lang ang minor nga bata ni Castro kag si Emaray nga natabuan nga ara sa lugar sang ginhimo sang mga suspetsado ang krimen. Para nga wala sang may makatudlo sang identity sang mga suspetsado gane ginpatay man ang bata kag si Emaray,” he explained.
The bodies were sent to the rural health unit for post-mortem examinations./PN
