ILOILO City – Forty-four anti-illegal drug operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were subjected to unannounced drug testing yesterday.

The Regional Crime Laboratory 6 conducted the drug test at the grandstand of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

ICPO officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, ordered the “surprise” drug test.

He said it would ensure that all personnel assigned at the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and police stations’ drug enforcement teams are drug-free.

“We have to show to the public that we are serious in our campaign against illegal drugs and our internal cleansing program. Naga-fight kita sa drugs so dapat ang aton operatives ay drug-free,” Coronica said.

PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, acknowledged the initiative of Coronica.

“‘Yan dapat ang gawin para ipakita sa mamamayan na ang police natin ay drug-free,” he said./PN
