AFTER UNGKA ROAD WIDENING; Next targets: sidewalk, drainage, signages

ILOILO City – After it has completed the road widening beneath the Ungka flyover, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 will construct sidewalks and drainage, and install signage in Barangay Ungka II, Pavia, Iloilo.

Assistant Director Jose Al Fruto told Panay News they will also designate public transport passenger loading points.

There is little work left in terms of road widening, according to Fruto. He expressed confidence that the widened roads will be passable by next week or by Feb. 14.

“We will see kon ano ang pag-draw ‘ya sang traffic especially ang going out of the city, kay halos naplastar na ang two lanes sa kilid sang flyover,” said Fruto.

Of particular concern are the rush hours from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

To beat the Feb. 14 deadline for the road widening completion, civil works ran for almost 24 hours each day.

“Nagapangayo kita sang pasensya sa mga pumoluyo nga naga-ilistar sa kilid kay magahod kami asta kaagahon,” said Fruto./PN
