BACOLOD City – Eighty-nine drug offenders “graduated” from the Community Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) initiated by the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCCADAC).
The graduates had their closing ceremony in Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Feb. 9.
Punong Barangay Desiderio Enarciso said the village council did its best to fight illegal drugs and thanked the local government headed by Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo and the SCCADAC.
SCCADAC Secretariat Ana Liza Macaraya presented the 89 graduates, who each received certificates and food packs.
During the program, one of the former drug offenders, “Aiza,” shared how young she was when she got lured into the bad habit and ended up in jail. She also described the difficulties of being imprisoned.
Another former drug offender, “Chris,” shared his experience of being a drug dependent and how a “small sachet” destroyed his normal life and family. He tried his best to recover from being a drug dependent, underwent CBDRP, and became a church lay minister, with his children also serving in their church, he added.
Also present at the event were other officials of Barangay Buluangan, PDEA-Barangay Drug Clearing Program Coordinator Intelligence Officer I Jessa Gem Sadaya, City Health Office Nurse III Carlos Ramon Solidarios, SCCADAC Secretariat and CBDRP focal person Legal Asst. III Ana Liza Macaraya and staff, and Police Staff Sergeant of San Carlos PNP Ma. Filomena Flores./PN
