ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is still waiting for an order from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters regarding the assumption of office of the new director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director, confirmed that he already submitted to the PNP headquarters the letter of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. choosing Police Colonel Ronaldo Palomo as the next IPPO director.

Napadala ko na po ang letter sa Camp Crame at hihintayin na lang natin ang response to issue an order for Palomo to be IPPO’s next director or if they have to send another three nominees (for the post),” said Francisco.

He added, “Sa ngayon, I do not know kung kailan magpapalabas ng order ang national headquarters. Pero kung nandiyan na, ako rin naman ang mag-i-implement.”

Defensor selected Palomo – a native of Passi City, Iloilo – to be the new IPPO director from the three nominees. The other two nominees were Police Colonel Noel Aliño who currently heads the police provincial office in an acting capacity and Police Colonel Gervacio Balmaceda, former chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 6 (CIDG-6).

Francisco, however, clarified that Aliño is still the IPPO chief while waiting for his replacement.

Palomo, meanwhile, was a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1998. He and Aliño were classmates.

He is currently assigned at the National Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the PNP headquarters./PN
