La Paz drug bust yields nearly P1M ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – A high-value drug suspect yielded 135 grams of suspected shabu valued at P918,000 in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district.

The 26-year-old Anjo “Part” Abello, a resident of Zone 1, Barangay Rizal, La Paz, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. yesterday.

Joint operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) led by Police Captain Glenn A. Soliman, City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) under Police Lieutenant Colonel Antonio P. Benitez Jr. and La Paz police station’s Station Drug Enforcement Team led by Police Captain Johnna V. Aguil confiscated a total of 27 sachets and P20,000 in buy-bust money.

Soliman said Abello, a tokhang surrenderee, was arrested for illegal drug possession in 2016 and was released from jail in 2019 through a plea bargaining agreement.

Abello was detained at the La Paz police station and would be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
