GUIMARAS – This year’s celebration of National Oral Health Month of the Guimaras provincial government through its Provincial Health Office was a success.
With the theme, “Sa bibig na malusog at alaga, masustansyang pagkain enjoy hanggang pagtanda“, the celebration culminated on Feb. 28 at the provincial capitol.
A short program was attended by Dr. Ramon Matthew Grecia, Jr., Oral Health Program Coordinator of the Department of Health (DOH)-Western Visayas (WV) Center for Health Development.
Executive Assistant III Lino Galea delivered a message on behalf of Gov. Joaquin Carlos Rahman A. Nava, MD.
Also present were dental auxiliaries and other health personnel from the municipalities of Jordan, Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, Sibunag, and San Lorenzo.
Dr. Toothie and Dr. Toothsie Belle, the mascots of the DOH-WV Center for Health Development, entertained children and adults alike.
A caravan around the province was also held and “sabayang pagsesepilyo” for daycare children.
National Oral Health Month is celebrated every February.
The month-long celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 559 series of 2004 to strengthen public awareness on the importance of good oral health. (With a report from the Province of Guimaras)/PN
