ILOILO City – Some government employees are under monitoring and investigation for alleged involvement in illegal drugs, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6).
However, PDEA-6 spokesperson Bomrad Abonado refused to name the employees.
“May nabaton kita nga mga reports nga may mga employees sa government, not only sa Iloilo City Government, nga involved sa illegal drugs. Pero under investigation kag confirmation pa. Indi kita dali-dali maka-operate unless ma-confirm naton. Basi ang iban nga reports paninira lang,” Abonado said.
The PDEA-6 reviewed its list of drug personalities and reports received from tipsters following the arrest of a regular city hall employee in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Calumpang, Molo district on March 2.
The 40-year-old Carlos “Caloy” Agado of Zamboanga City was caught after selling to a police poseur-buyer a plastic sachet of suspected shabu for P6,800.
Police classified him as a high-value suspect.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said the city government will file administrative charges against Agado.
“The person involved will not expect support of any kind from the city government,” he added./PN
