GUIMARAS – The Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) director, Police Colonel Richard B. Baluis, joined Tuesday’s regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to discuss safety measures for elected local officials.
“Ginpalab-ot lang nila nga if we want, they could conduct security assessment sa amon nga puloy-an, route and amon activities para makita nila kon ano ang weaknesses sang mga areas nga gina-frequent namon,” Vice Gov. John Edward Gando told Panay News yesterday.
It is upon each member of the provincial board to decide whether to accept the security offer of the GPPO or not.
Gando said some SP members expressed openness to the threat assessment.
The vice governor also said no SP had reported to him that they were facing threats.
Guimaras is a peaceful province with no intense political rivalry, according to Gando.
But he stressed this does not mean the GPPO would relax the peace and order measures being implemented, especially with two upcoming major activities scheduled – Ang Pagtaltal during the Holy Week and the Manggahan Festival.
“Mas maayo gid kon ang aton police proactive kag ma-assess nila ang peace and order situation sa Guimaras,” added Gando./PN
