ANTIQUE – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio personally distributed relief goods and assistance to residents affected by the oil spill in Caluya, Antique on Monday, March 13.
A total of 1,200 residents from Barangay Alegria; Sitio Sabang, Barangay Tinogboc; Sitio Liwagao, Barangay Sibolo; and Barangay Semirara received food boxes containing rice and canned goods, among others, from the Office of the Vice President.
Duterte-Carpio also distributed PagbaBAGo kits containing school supplies for 991 learners from six schools in Caluya.
Teachers at the Tinogboc Elementary School, meanwhile, received cash assistance of P2,000 each.
The Vice President also joined the distribution of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Each of the 865 families received P8,112 cash aid.
Also present were DSWD undersecretary Marco Bautista, Assistant Secretary Diane Cajipe, Regional Director Carmelo Nochete and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Arwin Razo.
Data from the Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office showed that as of March 13, there were 8,387 families or 30,226 individuals affected by the oil spill. (With reports from Philippine News Agency)/PN
