ILOILO City – The assignment of a police officer is not for sale.
This was stressed by Police Major General Robert Rodriguez, head of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) in Camp Crame, following the recent arrest of a police corporal who used the DPRM in her illegal activity.
Rodriguez warned police personnel not to engage in illegal activities that tarnish the PNP.
“Ang reassignment sang isa ka pulis wala ginabaligya kag dapat mag-agi sa insakto nga process kung gusto magpa-reassign. I also warn the police personnel nga indi paggamiton ang office ko sa illegal nga buluhaton. Isa pa, it’s a no-no ina kay PNP chief, General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.,” Rodriguez told Panay News.
Police Corporal Michelle Ann Repolles was arrested by the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) at the Makati City police station on March 16.
According to IMEG director Brigadier General Warren de Leon, Repolles duped other police officers in a “reassignment for sale” scheme. She offered to process a policeman’s transfer to his preferred assignment in return for P30,000, De Leon added.
IMEG also revealed that Repolles has been telling police officers she can process their transfer to their assignments of choice for a fee ranging from P10,000 to P30,000, claiming she has connections with the DPRM.
“Madamo na ako may nabalitaan nga amo na nga modus pero wala lang kita sang evidence until this corporal was nabbed in an entrapment,” Rodriguez added.
Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, said he never heard of any report regarding the aforementioned illegal activity in Western Visayas.
“So far dito sa region wala akong nataggap na ganyang activity kasi dumadaan sila sa proper process in requesting for reassignment. Dito kasi kapag may nag-request ng ibang assignment we are conducting validation or para mabilis ang paglipat, maganda if may ka-swap siya,” Francisco said. (With reports from Philippine Star)/PN
