ILOILO City – Around 700 new police officers were assigned to city and provincial police offices in Western Visayas.

Trained in combat, they will boost police visibility especially in areas where there are insurgents, said Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

The Iloilo City Police Office got the most number of augmentation personnel at 143.

The augmentation personnel recently completed their four-month Basic Internal Security Operations Course in Negros Island.

The training was designed to sharpen their abilities to be effective and skilled police officers through immediate action drills, land navigation, water search and rescue, among others.

“The primary goal is to make the trainees become well-rounded police officers. Depende naman sa mga commanders kung saan nila i-distribute pero most of them will be assigned to mobile force. Kasi need natin talaga ang manpower,” Francisco said./PN
