ILOILO City – Four houses were destroyed and one was partially damaged when fire struck at the relocation site in Barangay Lanit, Jaro district around 3:10 p.m. yesterday.
According to some residents, the fire started at the house of Nandy Besano and spread to the nearby houses owned by Susan Sambas, Edith Biatrisola, Jun Fernandez, and Van Villanoz.
The displaced families are temporarily staying at the barangay day care center and barangay hall.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Iloilo City is still investigating the source of the fire and the extent of damage.
Barangay Captain Remedios Bedia called on the city government for help.
“Indi ni namon sila pagpabay-an kag nakapangayo na ako bulig sa city government para sa financial assistance kay, ti, wala gid ni sila may nasalbar nga gamit nila,” Bedia said./PN
