BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental sent out invites to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte to grace the Panaad sa Negros Festival from April 17 to 23.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said they are now waiting for the official confirmation of the country’s top leaders.
Diaz said Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer will be instrumental in convincing them to visit.
Invites have also been sent to various senators.
“Our preparations are 100 percent full speed ahead. So far, so good. Everything is on the right track,” he said.
Final preparations for the festival’s security will be on March 29, Diaz said, adding that they will make sure this year’s festivities would be fun and safe for everyone.
The agencies leading the festival security and safety preparations are the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Festival director Cheryl Decena, the provincial tourism officer, expressed confidence that a lot of tourists will join the festivities after a three-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic./PN
