BACOLOD City – The Office of the Building Official (OBO) served notices to 20 establishments for violations of the national building code, or Presidential Decree (PD) 1096.
Most violators were commercial establishments.
OBO head Isidro Sun Jr. said the office discovered that these establishments did not have occupancy or building permits.
“For those still undergoing construction, we only issued notices if we knew they had no intention to secure a permit,” the OBO head said.
Violators were given several days to process their occupancy or building permits.
If there is still no action on their part, the matter will be forwarded to the City Legal Office (CLO).
Yesterday, March 29, the OBO served the final notice of violation against the ongoing construction of a cockpit in Purok Paghida-et, Barangay Tangub.
Sun said the final notice was issued together with a work stoppage order after the grace period ended.
On March 22, the OBO served the first notice to the owner.
Sun also said a building permit is still needed despite the city council granting the cockpit construction a resolution of no objection./PN
