DSWD releases P40.8-M aid to oil spill victims in Caluya

ILOILO City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 released P40.8 million in humanitarian assistance to oil spill-affected residents of Caluya, Antique as of March 29.

Here is the breakdown of the assistance:

* 8,300 family food packs worth P4,380,800

* non-food items (P189,150)

* financial assistance (P36,251,586)

Non-food items included 50 pairs of boots, 20 modular tents and 25 rolls of sakoline, said Claud Jan Marquez, focal person of DSWD-6’s Disaster Response and Management Division – Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center.

Financial assistance, meanwhile, included emergency cash transfer, cash-for-work and assistance to individuals in crisis situation (AICS).

Here is the breakdown of those who received cash aid from oil spill-affected areas:

* Barangay Alegria – 800 beneficiaries (P6,489,600)

* Barangay Semirara – 1,732 beneficiaries (P12,997,452)

* Barangay Sibolo – 151 beneficiaries (P774,696)

* Barangay Tinogboc – 924 beneficiaries (P7,267,338)

For cash-for-work: 

* Barangay Alegria – 293 beneficiaries (P1,968,750)

* Barangay Semirara – 375 beneficiaries (P2,529,000)

* Barangay Tinogboc – 378 beneficiaries (P2,517,750)

For AICS:

* Barangay Semirara – 346 beneficiaries (P1,038,000)

* Barangay Sibolo – 148 beneficiaries (P444,000)

* Barangay Tinogboc – 75 beneficiaries (P225,000)

Under the emergency cash transfer, each beneficiary were given P338 per day for 15 days, or a total of P5,070 each while for AICS, each beneficiary received P3,000.

DSWD-6 data showed 7,195 families or 27,145 persons from four barangays were affected by oil spill:

* Barangay Alegria – 901 families, or 3,713 persons

* Barangay Sibolo – 424 families, or 1,660 persons

* Barangay Semirara – 4,934 families, or 18,167 persons

* Barangay Tinogboc – 937 families, or 3,605 persons/PN
