BACOLOD City – The secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT) will be attending the opening ceremonies of the 2023 Panaad sa Negros Festival on April 17.

Tourism secretary Christina Garcia Frasco is the only high-profile guest who confirmed in writing her intent to attend the festivities, said Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.

But the provincial government is hoping that others they have invited will issue confirmations, too, he added.

As for the preparations, Diaz said they will hold a final briefing this week and tie up “loose ends.”

“Basi may mga things kita nga na-overlook…we may have to tie some of the loose ends up so that seamless [and] smooth ang celebration ta,” he said.

He also commended the support of the local government units (LGUs). It’s “overwhelming”, he said.

The Panaad sa Negros Festival is dubbed the “Festival of all Festivals” in Negros Occidental.

All 31 participating LGUs showcase the best they could offer in culture, sports, food, and tourism.

The event would also be held for the first time following a three-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic./PN
