BACOLOD City – The dumping of dead bodies in various parts of the city has alarmed the local business community.
Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in an interview over RMN DYHB Bacolod over the weekend that the incidents were “very bad for business.”
He is concerned that it may affect the entry of investors not just in Bacolod City but also in the province of Negros Occidental.
The peace and order situation of a locality is a major consideration of investors, said Carbon, and he hoped the local government and police will not treat the incidents as “isolated”.
Last week, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said it will create a special taskforce to probe the dumping of human remains and severed body parts.
The BCPO is also not ruling out the possibility that a vigilante group may be operating in the metro.
The latest incident was recorded on May 2. The decomposing remains of a man were recovered in Barangay Cabug.
BCPO director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño, said the victim was 43-year-old Radney “Potot” Emplamado of Sitio Beranio, Barangay Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Emplamado was allegedly abducted by four unidentified men on April 18.
Police Captain Rondyl Tapang, Police Station 9 commander, said the victim was placed inside a sack and dumped in the drainage system.
Emplamado was the third incident of recovered human remains in the city last week. Two others were found at a drainage system in neighboring Barangay Felisa on April 30./PN
