BACOLOD City — Three kagawads in Brgy. Alangilan here have filed a complaint before the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) against Metro Safari Resort owner Francis Rey Cabuga.

They expressed opposition to the continued construction of the resort in their barangay despite its lack of permit.

In their complaint dated May 27, 2014, they said Cabuga was not able to secure a permit from the city’s Office of the Building Official (OBO).

The complaining village councilmen were Donard Alimpolo, Alex Sausi and Roy Retiza.

Alimpolo said they and some of their constituents yesterday rallied in front of the Department of Agrarian Reform’s (DAR) Provincial Agrarian Reform Office here.

He said they informed the agency that the construction of the resort continues despite DAR’s issuance of a cease and desist order against it.

The protesters later proceeded to the SP session hall to attend a discussion on their complaint.

At the session, OBO head Isidro Sun said they have issued a final notice of work stoppage for Metro Safari Resort.

Sun said the resort can be issued an OBO permit only if the owner complies with zoning requirements and those from DAR, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Labor and Employment, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources./PN
