San Rafael goes 3-0 in Gametime U-14 volley tilt

ILOILO City – Team San Rafael, Team JJB of Sta. Barbara and Lady Dragons kept their clean slates in the first two days of the Gametime 14- Under Girls Volleyball League at the Sta. Clarita International School Covered Gym here.

Team San Rafael stayed unbeaten after three games in Group C following dominant wins over SIV Pink Panthers (25-8, 25-13) and PD Monfort Central Elementary School (25-9, 25-14) before a tight 25-12, 19-25, 25-16 win versus Santo Nino Sur Elementary School.

Team JJB of Sta Barbara, meanwhile, had a 2-0 start in Group B following a come-from-behind 18-25, 25-11, 25-20 win over Tanza Baybay and a two-set demolition of the I Arroyo Elementary School.

The Lady Dragons also sport a 2-0 win-loss slate in Group B following a 25-14, 25-20 beating of IAES followed by a lopsided triumph against Team Tanza Baybay. They will close their group stage game against Team JJB.

Meanwhile, Phoenix ended their Group A matches with a 2-1 win-loss record with their 25-12, 25-10 win over San Juan and 25-9, 25-18 sweep of FPL Training Camp. Their lone loss was against Team Pototan.

Santo Nino Sur Elementary School managed to score a 26-24, 25-16 win over PD Monfort Central Elementary School before losing to Team JJB for a 1-1 win-loss slate and stayed alive in the quarterfinals race.

Calinog, meanwhile, bounced back from a 25-19, 25-23 loss to ICSA with back-to-back victories against ICES (25-9, 25-8) and Rafflyn (25-7, 25-4) and remained in contention with its 2-1 mark.

Team Tanza Baybay, meanwhile, bowed out of playoffs contention after suffering two defeats in three matches, while I Arroyo Elementary School also ended its campaign with 0-3 record.

The volleyball tournament will resume this Saturday with nine crucial matches with playoffs indications, while the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals are slated on Sunday, May 28.
