MANILA – Ilongga volleybelle Princess Anne Robles is headed to the professional ranks after agreeing to a deal with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

The former National University Lady Bulldogs star was unveiled as one of the new players of the Crossovers over the weekend and will make her debut in the 2023 PVL Invitationals next month.

Aside from Robles, also signing with the Crossovers were former Lady Bulldogs teammates Jennifer Nierva and Joyme Cagande and former University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses stars Ejiya Laure and Imee Hernandez.

Robles, a former standout from Sto Niño Elementary School and Central Philippine University Golden Lions in Iloilo, had a fruitful collegiate career with the Lady Bulldogs in UAAP.

Robles, a native of Barangay Sto. Niño Sur in Arevalo, Iloilo City, was the UAAP Finals MVP when the Lady Bulldogs completed a historic sweep of UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament last year.

The Ilongga volleybelle, however, had a dip in offensive production in UAAP Season 85 due to minor knee injury and rookie Evangeline Alinsug taking over her starting spot. NU settled for a runner up finish.

At the Cargo Movers, Robles will join fellow Ilongga Ma. Shaya Adorador as they beef up the wing spiker position along with veterans Mylene Paat, Ennajie Laure and Pauline Gaston.

Chery Tiggo, which is being handled by Aaron Velez, is aiming to recover from their fifth place finish in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference earlier this month after finishing with a 4-4 record.

The Crossovers are slated in Pool A for the Invitational Conference with defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers, PLDT High Speed Hitters, Akari Power Chargers and Gerflor.

Pool B, meanwhile, has F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Petro Gazz Angels, Cignal HD Spikers, Choco Mucho Flying Titans, and Farm Fresh, which took over the spot of Army Lady Troopers.

The top two teams of each group will advance to the semifinals and play another round-robin with guest teams from Japan and Australia and the top two clubs of the semis will clash in a knockout championship game./PN
