BACOLOD City –The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has established an emergency hotline that directly connects barangay tanods to acting director Police Colonel Noel Aliño.

Aliño said “Dial-B” would facilitate the timely conveyance of situation reports, updates, and requests for police assistance via short messaging service (SMS) or phone calls 24/7.

“They [tanods] play a vital role in keeping the community safe and secure,” the acting city police director said, adding that barangay tanods, along with the police, are often on the frontlines during crime incidents, public disorder and natural disasters.

The direct emergency hotline would also strengthen the partnership between the police and barangay officials, he also said.

Dial-B was launched on Thursday, May 30 at the BCPO grounds.

Each chief tanod of the 61 barangays in the city was also given a unit of cellular phone with subscriber identity module (SIM) cards. (With a report from PNA)/PN
