ACTRESS and host Maine Mendoza was quick to dispel the news circulating on social media earlier last week about her upcoming wedding with Kapamilya actor Arjo Atayde.
On her official Twitter account, Maine said that “there is no truth” to the reports as she doesn’t want to publicize what’s going on in her personal life.
The tweet that Maine shared from a news outlet has since been deleted. Netizens were quick to take a screenshot prior to it being removed from the news outlet’s official Twitter account.
“Huh? This is not true and the article is misleading. Not sure if clickbait done on purpose or comprehension is just [smiling face with tear emoji],” she wrote.
The 28-year-old celebrity added that she is “the last person to publicize a personal affair.”
The publication reported that Maine and Arjo’s wedding would air on TV5. They supposedly quoted veteran entertainer Joey de Leon’s statement from an exclusive interview.
Netizens found the quote that the news publication was pertaining to which was about the return of their noontime show, mixing the two and creating confusion about Maine and Arjo’s wedding.
“We will start in a few days… Hindi na namin papatagalin kasi hinahanap na rin ng mga katawan namin. Ang maganda nito, we’re already airing during our 44th anniversary and the wedding of Maine. So ‘yun ‘yung mga big events na aabangan niyo,” Joey previously said in the interview.
Meanwhile, Maine advised netizens to fact-check everything they see online first before spreading them on social media.
“Kakaloka din how some netizens would simply believe what they see on the Internet [smiling face with tear emoji]. Kailan ba mauuso ang fact-checking?!” she added.
Fans of the actress expressed their support in the replies section of her tweets. They said they will only believe things that come from either Maine or Arjo and not from other people.
Meanwhile, Arjo previously confirmed that their much-awaited wedding is set to happen this year. The actor-turned-politician didn’t disclose more details about their wedding. They were still ironing everything out at that time.
“Definitely the wedding is in the works but that’s all I can say for now. We’re preparing for it. I’m enjoying it. And definitely it’s within the year. It’s also part of what we’re planning right now. Surprise na lang,” he previously shared. (PUSH)
