With the increasing cases, the PHO reminded the public to practice the 5S Strategy: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; self-protection like using insect repellents; seek early consultation at the nearest health care facility; support fogging, spraying, and misting in hot spot areas; and sustain hydration.
Dengue viruses are spread to people through the bite of an infected Aedes species (Ae. aegypti or Ae. albopictus) mosquito. Dengue infection may cause headaches, vomiting, internal bleeding, severe pain, rashes and high temperatures. It could be fatal if not managed well./PN
