CEBU City – Western Visayas elementary boys football team ruled the Cluster 3 Pre-Palarong Pambansa Qualifying Meet via an 8-0 triumph over Region 8 on Saturday at the Don Bosco Technological College here.
Nathan Howard Caligdong spearheaded the Barotac Nuevo Central Elementary School-represented squad with a hat trick, while Drystan Alexandrae Delgado-Torres contributed two conversions.
Jhon Army Condino, John Lorenz Segocio and Alfin Bayotas contributed one goal each as the WV booters finished on top with seven points on two wins and a draw.
The Ilonggo booters were scorching in the opening half as they unloaded five goals against the Region 8 defense before they continued their aggression to add three more hits in the second half.
Other members of the WV elementary boys football team were Kurt Arnel Deoduco, Finley Nate Bedia, Vinz Kyru Bragancia, Gian Michael Porras, Gem Andrei Dequit and Fritz Azhryl Chavez.
Completing the Jasper Jan Santos and Ariel Bedic-mentored crew were Carl Justin Gabayno, James Michael Consular, Neil John Biclar, Ezekiel Joan Surmieda, Bryan Ejar, Nhelro Valderama and Raiver Paul Fernandez.
The Western Visayas squad along with second placer Central Visayas are advancing to the 2023 Palarong Pambansa competition slated from July 29 to August 5 in Marikina City.
The Western Visayas secondary boys football team, represented by Barotac Nuevo Comprehensive Elementary School – Iloilo, settled for a 2-2 draw with Region 9 in their final match on Saturday.
Despite finishing runner up in the three-day cluster 3 qualifying meet, the Iloilo-based booters will still advance to Palarong Pambansa along with champion Region 7-Central Visayas.
Meanwhile, Western Visayas secondary softball team, composed of players from Bago City, Negros Occidental, also emerged as champion in their event with their perfect record./PN
