ILOILO City – A business couple lost over half a million in cash to riding-in-tandem robbers in Barangay Tacas, Pontevedra, Capiz around 7:06 a.m. yesterday, June 19.

Jesus Estollano, 47, and his wife were on board their top-down tricycle when they were blocked and held up at gunpoint, according to Pontevedra Municipal Police Station deputy chief of police Captain Rian F. Ampoyos.

The police carried out a manhunt operation in Sitio Abucayan, Barangay Rizal, which resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects, Jet Dela Torre, 45, of Barangay Solo, Pontevedra. He was the alleged driver of the getaway motorcycle.

“Ato sya [Dela Torre] subong sa ospital kay nasamaran sya,” said Ampoyos.

Recovered were two firearms with ammunition, P500 cash and identification cards placed inside a kid’s backpack.

Dela Torre confessed and identified his colleague as Rene Libo-on of Barangay Dacuton, Dumarao who is still atlarge as of this writing.
