ANTIQUE – To protect the hog industry and farmers from African Swine Fever (ASF), the municipality of Tibiao temporarily banned swine, pork and related products, and breeding services from other municipalities.
Executive Order (EO) No. 32 of Mayor Klemens Bandoja also regulates the movement of hogs within Tibiao.
The hog disease has already been detected in two towns of Antique — Hamtic, where the index case was; and San Jose de Buenavista, the province’s capital town.
Bandoja said precautionary measures must be put in place as ASF poses a threat to the source of livelihood for marginalized residents and farmers.
EO No. 32 orders the following protocol and control measures:
* All incoming and outgoing vehicles shall be subjected to surveillance checks at the border of barangays La Paz and Sta. Ana, this municipality.
* All livestock transport carriers from other provinces and municipalities are not allowed to load and unload except in the designated areas only. The designated area in the north shall be in the Lot of Ada Grace Alocilja, et al. along the national highway of Barangay La Paz and in the south at the Lot of Mrs. Wenefreda Arevalo-Ogatis at Barangay Sta. Ana along the national highway at (Panolong) near Dalanas River.
* The selling of swine/hogs from Tibiao to other municipalities is allowed and shall be undertaken only at the designated areas mentioned above from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
* Slaughtering of hogs/swine shall be done at the Municipal Slaughter House only. A barangay certification from the Punong Barangay shall be secured prior to slaughter. Violation of this provision shall cause confiscation of the products.
* Pork and pork-related products coming from other municipalities and provinces are temporarily banned from entering the municipality. Likewise, the circulation of such products in the municipality will cause their confiscation.
* All barangays shall conduct an inventory of the swine population in their respective jurisdictions and submit the same to the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist. The updating of inventory and the submission shall be done weekly.
* The transport or movement of swine from one barangay to another barangay(s) in the municipality shall have the corresponding barangay certification issued by the barangay of origin.
* All barangays shall have a designated disposal area for all confiscated swine and pork-related products.
* All barangays in the municipality of Tibiao are enjoined to activate their “Bantay African Swine Fever sa Barangay or the BABAY ASF Program” in the province of Antique.
*All breeding services related to natural or artificial insemination are temporarily suspended in the municipality of Tibiao to contain the spread of ASF./PN
