ILOILO City – The eight-year-old patrol boat of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-6 (BFAR-6) docked at the Iloilo River in Barangay Arsenal-Aduana was found sinking.

Around 8 a.m. yesterday, July 4, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and various rescue groups refloated the patrol boat from the water.

BFAR-6 regional director Remia Aparri, in an interview with RMN Iloilo, said the agency procured the boat sometime in 2015 for P1.2 million and used it in regional operations.

It underwent monthly maintenance checkup, added Aparri.

The PCG is investigating the cause of the boat’s sinking. It will be taken to Pototan, Iloilo to undergo repairs./PN
