Bacolod opens gov’t satellite office

BACOLOD City – To bring government services closer to the public, the city government has opened a satellite office.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez led the inauguration of the Bacolod Express Services Office (BESO) on the 3rd floor of SM City-Bacolod on Tuesday, July 4.

“[BESO] will give people options on where to go in availing themselves of government services. It will give convenience and easier access,” said Benitez.

The satellite office, which is open during mall hours from Monday to Friday, offers the following services:

* Zoning location clearance for building permits

* Zoning location clearance for business permits

* Zoning lot certification

* Electrical permit and endorsement of the Bureau of Fire Protection

* Business permit applications

* Fire safety evaluation clearance application

* Health certificate

* Vaccination certificate

* Mayor’s certification and clearance

* Social services assistance

* Philippine Identification System birth registration assistance program

* Office for Senior Citizens Affairs and Persons with Disability identification card issuance and senior citizen ladderized incentives scheme

* Community tax – individual and corporate

* Retirement business

* Transfer of tax

* Sealing of weights and measures

* Assessment of trisikad / tricycle / jeepney / common carrier, and

* Issuance of a professional / occupational tax return

City residents who wish to avail themselves services at the satellite office may also book appointments online.

Frances Mae Llamas, assistant department head of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions, said they are targeting to accommodate hundreds of clients per day, depending on the volume of the transactions and the processing time.

They were also studying for a weekend scheme in the following months.

“What we will do is look into the volume of the transactions and clients coming in, and we are hoping to do the transaction on Saturdays,” Llamas said.

She added: “Indi ka na magkadto sa Bacolod City Government Center para mag-sang services bangud naga-offer na ang syudad sa mas accessible nga lugar.”

SM Bacolod Services Express Office is one of the two express service centers in the city; the first Bacolod Express Services Office was launched in Ayala Malls Capitol Central./PN
