BACOLOD City – To honor people upholding the values of good citizenship, this city will be giving out ‘Be the Change’ awards.
The ‘Be the Change’ award, under city ordinance No. 1042, signed by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on July 4, shall be bestowed upon individuals who have made a profound impact on the city through acts of kindness, unwavering commitment, and exceptional service.
“Bag-ohon ang paglantaw kag pamatasan. Gapati ko nga kita tanan may ara potential for change… We want Bacolodnons nga mangin good citizens, mangin agents of development. We will make Bacolod a disciplined city,” he said during his first State of the City Address at the Bacolod City Government Center.
The award recognizes the need to instill positive qualities to the public for a clean, healthy, resilient, and peaceful city with a vibrant economy, a balanced environment, an enduring and lively culture, and safe settlements.
It also aims to identify and build more positive role models who demonstrated positive acts, inspiring others to do the same and fostering a community culture where doing good acts is encouraged and commended./PN
