“BAKIT hindi?”
These were the words of actress Kim Chiu when asked after her contract signing with ABS-CBN if she’s willing to compete again if ever there was an all-winners edition of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB).
Chiu was the first winner of the teen edition of the reality series which jumpstarted her showbiz career and led to lead roles in “Tayong Dalawa” in 2009 and “Paano Na Kaya” in 2010.
For the actress, going back inside the famous “Bahay ni Kuya” would show her growth since she joined the show at such a young age.
“Maganda din ‘yon. Makikita nila sasabog ‘yung papanoorin nila. Baka stronger na tayo ngayon. ‘Yung 16-year-old self ko baka magulat sa 32-year-old self ko,” she said.
Asked who she would want to compete with, the actress said: “Melai (Cantiveros), Maymay (Entrata). Nako sasabog, magiging Bisaya, magkakaroon na ng subtitle ‘yung ‘PBB.’ Bea Saw pa, Nene Tamayo, sila Slater Young, ang dami. Keanna Reeves, nako mag-‘PBB’ Bisaya version na lang tayo. Pero masaya ‘yun.”
Meanwhile, Chiu shared her experience of being on the different side of the competition series scene as the host of “Dream Maker.”
“Kaya mabigat din sa loob ko kapag umaalis, na parang mag-e-eliminate not one, not two, not three but 20 ‘yung kanilang papauwiin in one episode, in one taping,” she said.
While it was hard to see people go, Chiu always reminded the contestants to never give up on their dreams.
“Lahat ng tao merong pangarap and it’s just a given opportunity or, nasa sa’yo lang ‘yan kung susundin mo or susukuan mo ‘yung pangarap mo. Kaya lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila ‘wag mong susukuan ‘yung pangarap mo kasi once na sinukuan mo ‘yan, wala na ikaw na tumapos sa pangarap mo. Kaya inaano ko talaga na, walang makakatulong sa’yo kundi sarili mo lang,” she added.
Chiu also shared how glad she is that people found comfort in her roots as a Cebuana.
“Sobra akong natutuwa kasi parang kahit sa’n ako pumunta, alam ng mga tao na Bisaya ako. So parang, ang ugali kasi ng Bisaya parang magkabarkada kayo kahit hindi naman, pero kasi magkapatid ‘yung mother tongue niyo,” she said.
“So masaya ako na nakakapagbigay ako ng a little comfort zone sa mga contestant namin sa ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ kapag hindi talaga nila na-e-explain ‘yung sarili nila.” (ABS-CBN News)
