ANTIQUE – Travel from the province of Antique to Occidental Mindoro or Palawan and vice versa via small sea crafts are still cancelled due to a gale warning hoisted by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
On Friday morning, July 28, Lieutenant Senior Grade Rey Anacita, station commander of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Antique, issued Advisory No. 7 prohibiting sea craft of 250 gross tonnage and below from traveling due to strong to gale-force winds associated with the southwest monsoon affecting the western seaboard of Visayas, particularly Antique.
“In this regard, trips from Antique (Semirara, Caluya, Libertad, and Culasi) to Occidental Mindoro/Palawan and vice versa via small sea crafts of 250 GT and below are still cancelled while the large vessels are alerted against big waves,” read part of the advisory.
Trips from Barangay Poblacion to Mararison Island, Culasi, Antique were also cancelled following PCG Headquarters Memorandum Circular No. 03-01 or the Guidelines on the movement of motorboats/vessels in the absence of a weather bulletin in the locality.
Anacita urged the seagoing public, coastal communities and fisherfolks not to venture into the sea and refrain from engaging in related activities to prevent untoward incidents.
To recall, sea travel from the province of Antique to Occidental Mindoro and Palawan and vice versa using small crafts were first cancelled on Monday, July 24./PN
